vSphere 4 & 5 License Calculator by VirtualVCP

I know that everyone is looking for a way to get a grip on the future license costs involved with going to vSphere 5 in the future.  Rynardt Spies over at VirtualVCP has created a real nice Excel spreadsheet which will help calculate the costs.  Here is a screen clip of the spreadsheet:

Go on over to Rynardt’s site and grab a copy for yourself and start playing with some numbers.  Here is the link to the post:

Books: Mastering VMware vSphere 5 by Scott Lowe

I am happy to push more on the announcement of Scott Lowe‘s new book, Mastering VMware vSphere 5.  I have always been a huge fan of Scott’s books.  As a matter of fact, I often have them nearby as a quick reference just in case I have a spot of old age syndrome start to seep into my head!  According to his blog post,

In the new revision for vSphere 5, you’ll find coverage included on the major new features:

- Storage DRS

- Profile-driven storage

- VMFS-5

- New hardware offloads in VAAI v2

- The Linux-based vCenter Server virtual appliance

Anyway, I just wanted to share this with the world.  Keep an eye out on his blog for the pre-order announcement and stay tuned here for a review on the book once I receive it!
